Day Meeting Minutes - 3/31/2026

President Anita Martin brought the meeting to order at 12:20pm. Pledge of Allegiance and 4 Way Test recited. Nineteen Rotarians were in attendance plus one on zoom. Guests: Janet F., Dennis Z., Tony (Badger Chevy), Abigail (Leader). Two student Rotarians were also in attendance. (Lake Mills High School on spring break).
Happy Birthday: Brian B., Emma P. and Boyd F.
Happy Rotary Anniversary: Carmen W. (1 year), and Gerard S. (21 years)
Third reading: Dennis Z. Inducted April 7.
 
Financials: Copies are available. Currently, the Club earns $180 per month in interest from the Money Market account.
 
Information:
  • Rotary magazine Geoff Johnson's story about visiting Wisconsin and our Lake Mills Club is now the lead story on the magazine’s web site:  https://www.rotary.org/en/rotary-magazine
  • Pet event: April 25. Volunteers will be needed. Contact Amy L. if you can volunteer.  Posters available to hang up.
  • Post prom: May 2 Posters available to hang up.
  • Brain Book: purchased 20 (10 English, 10 Spanish) for Gianna’s Joy. Produced by LaCrosse Rotary. Suggested by Brian W.
  • Bartender volunteers needed for Jefferson County Fair. (July 8-12). Sheet to sign up passed around. Split shifts available.
  • Calendar Rafflewinners for March 31: $200 Monica Brown

  •  $100 Doug Joers
  • Student Rotarians: Chloe and Gabe from Lakeside Lutheran HS gave their personal speeches.
 
Board Meeting:
  • Approved $200 donation to City Band sponsorship
  • Approved $250 donation to Legendary Lake Mills planters
  • Paul Harris Fellows: points for 18 members Brian W. will chair committee for honorary Paul Harris Fellow. Submit names to Brian W. Committee will meet April 28 at 11:30am.
Program: Girls on the Run (Coaches Amanda and Claire)
  • Girls on the Run is a non profit.
  • Empower girls in grades 3-8
  • Provide life skills, confidence building, emotional health, running
  • Founded in 1996
  • Johnson Health Tech was first corporate sponsor for Lake Mills
  • In 2009, Anita helped launch Girls on the Run in Jefferson County
  • Grew program from 16 to 32 girls
  • Practice at elementary school. Season is April-May
  • There is a theme/lesson each day. Warm up game, practice, laps. Make new friendships +new confidence.
  • Uses a national curriculum
  • Friends are in different grades
  • Being part of the community – led by girls
  • End of season – learn the art of comprising
  • Make local impact
  • Final 5K had 1,200 participants for the SW area
  • Ways to get involved: cheer on girls, become a coach, sponsor the program
Reminder: Write a thank you for veteran Al Weber. Brian B. will participating in honor flight. Will pick up notes on April 14.
Reminder: blood pressure screening April 7 at Club 55.
