Day Meeting Minutes - 3/17/2026

President Anita Martin brought the meeting to order at 12:20pm. Pledge of Allegiance and 4 Way Test recited. Twenty Rotarians were in attendance. Guests: Janet Foust and Dennis Zeloski. Two student Rotarians were also in attendance. (Lakeside Lutheran HS closed for spring break)
 
Student Rotarians:
  • Lake Mills High School: Sophia and Greta gave intro speeches
Birthdays: Greg R., Jack C., Dean W. and Tom V.
 
Calendar Raffle:
  • Sponsors for today are Ryan’s Auto Care and American Family Insurance – Amy Winkelman Agency. Thank you to our sponsors.

Announcements:
  • Fun Kids Dog Show posters are available to display. Event is set for April 25, 2026 at Commons Park.
  • Wednesday, March 18: Night meeting at Tyranena Brewery on Owen St. at 6:00pm. (Day error in the announcements.)
  • Tuesday, March 24: no noon meeting. Raffle will be live streamed at 12:30pm
  • Wednesday, March 25: (5:30pm) meeting at the Grist. Speaker will be Tami Baker from Break the Silence: Mental Health Affects Everyone. Possibly have zoom at this meeting.
  • Friday, April 10: Trivia Night with Interact

Speaker/Presentation:
CAPE: local public advocacy group for public education.
  • Formed in 2013
  • Members include business people, educators, community members, parents, grandparents
  • Schools are the heart of the community
  • Lake Mills School District exceeds expectations on state report cards
  • Graduation rates are 95-97%
  • Lake Mills School District has a wide variety of programs
  • CAPE does welcome to staff for new year, setting up classrooms in the elementary school
  • Contributes to the Mill
  • Donated to student needs (ad in music program, outdoor learning center, operation recess)
  • Part of the WI Public Education Advocacy Network
  • Every child deserves an equal excellent public education

A Men's Euchre Game group is organizing at Lakehouse. Denny and Dennis Zeloski currently play and if you'd like to join them for Euchre, they'll be playing at Lakehouse on Monday afternoons at 3:00 p.m. 

 
Happy Bucks:
  • Brian B. will be accompanying 97 year old Korean War veteran, Al Weber, on an honor flight on April 18.  Brian is asking for people to write letters for the mail call. Al will receive the letters on the flight.
  • Ed H. concert at Lake Mills High School tonight (band, choir orchestra), boys basketball team is at the state tournament. First game is Thursday at 3:15pm, Lake Mills music parents sponsoring a mattress sale at the middle school. If you go to the middle school cafeteria Wednesday at 6:30pm the music parents receive $10 per person.
